Compare the total for your entire group, exact hotel and agreed journey. Check whether the quote is per vehicle or per person, one way or return, and in USD or Jamaican dollars. Our website shows indicative private-transfer estimates, not an official airport taxi tariff or a measured market average. A booking needs written confirmation of the final price and inclusions.
1. Per vehicle or per person?
A private vehicle quote and a shared-shuttle fare use different units. For a vehicle price, ask how many passengers and bags are included; for a per-person fare, multiply by everyone travelling and check the child policy. On this website, the standard estimate covers up to three passengers and the premium estimate up to two, subject to luggage. Larger parties need a custom quote, not another seat added to the same car.
2. A fair comparison: two worked examples
These are arithmetic examples only, not advertised route prices: a USD 60 private vehicle for two people costs USD 30 each. A USD 25-per-person shuttle costs USD 50 for the same pair, before any extras. For three people, that shuttle becomes USD 75; a USD 60 vehicle remains USD 60 only if all three and their luggage are accepted. Also compare hotel stops, waiting conditions and cancellation terms. The cheaper total may involve a different service.
3. Your exact hotel changes the journey
Do not request only ‘Montego Bay’ or ‘near Ocho Rios’. Send the hotel's full name and address, or the villa's map location. Montego Bay, Rose Hall and Falmouth are different pickup-to-hotel routes; Negril is west of the airport, while Ocho Rios is east. Use the destination pages below to select the correct zone, then confirm your precise accommodation. Road traffic, weather and a property's access road can change journey time; an estimate is not an arrival guarantee.
4. Flight delays and waiting time
Your scheduled landing time is not the time you will be ready outside customs. Provide the flight number and arrival date, then ask when included waiting starts, how long it lasts and what happens after that. Flight tracking alone does not promise unlimited free waiting. If immigration, baggage or a flight change delays you, contact the team using your booking confirmation. Ask specifically how a late arrival or a move to the following day affects the agreed price.
5. Luggage, child seats and extra stops
List suitcases, cabin bags, folded pushchairs and bulky equipment before accepting a vehicle. Passenger capacity does not prove that all bags will fit. State each child's age and request a suitable seat; our estimator currently adds USD 5 per requested seat, subject to confirmation and availability. Agree any supermarket stop, second hotel or detour in advance, including its duration and cost. Ask whether taxes, payment fees and any expected gratuity are included; do not assume the same terms across providers.
6. Return trips and transport already included
A return transfer has two separate journeys. Confirm the departure flight, hotel pickup time and contact procedure for the return leg. The website currently applies no automatic round-trip discount; compare the actual combined quote rather than assuming one. Before paying for a separate transfer, check your holiday package: Sandals advertises included airport transfers, with details depending on the booking. Verify your own entitlement directly with the resort. At MBJ, the airport lists JUTA and JCAL at its authorised taxi desk; our independent private-transfer estimates are not their tariff.
Before you accept a quote
- Exact hotel or villa address, arrival date and flight number.
- Adults, children and their ages; every suitcase and bulky item.
- Written total, currency, per-vehicle or per-person basis, and one-way or return scope.
- Waiting allowance, delayed-flight policy, seat availability and agreed stops.
- Meeting instructions, payment schedule, cancellation terms and return pickup details.
